Seventy-three million copies of Assassin’s Creed have been sold since the series debuted in 2007.

Since then, Ubisoft has been able to develop and publish a new console version of the game every year, while continuing to score high ratings among critics.

The series has six console installments, including Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, which was released in October and were day-one games for the launches of the PS4 and Xbox One. Many spin-offs of the games are also available on mobile platforms such as iOS, Android and the PS Vita. The series has also expanded onto other mediums including comic books, films, novels and recently, a board game.

The seventh version of the game for consoles, entitled Assassin’s Creed Unity, will be released before Christmas of this year for PS4, Xbox One and Windows. The game will take gamers into Paris during the French Revolution.
