J. Cole has returned with a music video for “G.O.M.D.” and like many of his recent visual cuts post-Born Sinner, the Fayetteville, North Carolina native has surprised fans once again. As one of the catchier songs from his album 2014 Forest Hills Drive, it’s safe to say that many listeners expected a “turn-up” focused video, reflecting the musical content that Cole actually critiques on his “G.O.M.D.” verses. Nope. Instead, we’ve been given a pretty cool, dare I say Django Unchained influenced music video, seeing the rapper – in the role of an African-American slave – facilitating the escape of himself and other slaves from their oppressors. Any hidden meanings? You be the judge.
