Fresh off performing in their hometown during Canadian Music Week, Toronto’s Beck Motley and Bon Voyage, otherwise known as The Airplane Boys, are set to release a new album.

The upcoming album entitled Egos & Expectations has been a long time coming for the pair. After taking time off to travel the world and spend with their families they are finally ready to release their latest offering to the world.

“Bon Voyage and I walked around, came back and saw our families and heard the music and were like, ‘wow this is crazy!’” explains Motley.

Recorded in a friend’s basement in Toronto’s Scarborough community, the group wrote and recorded the album in seven months on a very low budget. Using a sound blanket from Rona and a microphone that costs under $100 they admit it’s been a completely different process for them.

For Motley, Egos & Expectations is all about finding the right balance in life.

“It’s just about managing those two things, ’cause they can be used as weapons to bring you up, but also as weight to bring you down. So all you gotta do is create that balance and you’ll find the right growth in that.”

Egos & Expectations is due out June 10.
