With his latest single “I Got It”, Montreal-based rapper, Wasiu, uses lyrics to show he’s on top of the rap game, looking down on it and makes the statement that he’s there to stay.
Grabbing a sample from Kanye West and Jay Z’s “Gotta Have It”, the track incorporates Wasiu’s well-rounded voice that acts almost as its own, guiding beat. Dear Lola of RAW Records also adds some nice accents to the backbeat, which gives the track a multi-layered feel.
Wasiu isn’t hiding behind the illusion of catchy music here. He spits his A-game, and his consistent, easy-to-listen-to flow makes it easy to focus on the lyrics. Clarity claims king on this track.
