On May 13, the world will hear new music from the iconic Michael Jackson. Epic Records, in conjunction with the estate of Michael Jackson, will release Xscape an eight-track album executive produced by L.A. Reid. After mining Jackson’s archives, Reid was granted unlimited access to four decades’ worth of material Jackson had recorded. Timbaland, along with other producers like Rodney Jerkins, Stargate and John McClain, was called in to retool Jackson’s sound and add a fresh, contemporary sound. Xscape was named using the same format Jackson used to name all his albums, by choosing a title from a song on the album; this one chosen because it is the one track on the album that was ‘contemporized’ by the Jerkins who recorded it originally in the studio with Michael.
