Milan-based, Vancouver-native Christopher Bates’ Fall/Winter 2015 collection is impressive. And it is no wonder given Bates’ fashion training at the legendary Istituto Marangoni in Milan and recent nomination for the Canadian Arts & Fashion Award for 2015 Canadian Menswear Designer of the Year.

Leather pieces paired with corporate attire completely nailed the sophisticated bad-boy look.

Shown during Toronto Men’s Fashion Week to an audience full of Canadian elite including “The Book of Negroes” actor Greg Bryk and heavyweight boxing champion George Chuvalo, his F/W 15 collection incorporates contemporary tailoring, a neutral colour pallet (navy blue and maroon appeared regularly) and quality construction.

Leather pieces paired with corporate attire completely nailed the sophisticated bad-boy look. Fall weather will often be warm during the day, but cold at night. Sweaters are an easy way to deal with the varying temperatures and Bates’ included a wide variety of them – to be worn solo or layered. And when even more than a sweater is needed, Bates has it covered as well with quality constructed, fully buttoned trench coats.

Pant designs – ranging from army green cargo to grey pinstripe – included options for all occasions – casual, business and formal.
