This year marks the 50th anniversary of the first modular voltage-controlled synthesizer, an instrument that’s impact can’t be measured in modern music. Invented by Dr. Robert Moog, it offered musicians unlimited possibilities to create music. From May 23 to June 23, Moog Music will be transforming its newly renovated space to a public gallery and photo exhibit. The free exhibition will be open Monday to Friday from 4 to 6 p.m., at 170 Broadway Street in St. Asheville, North Carolina. Photos of the Moog synthesizers’ inception (1964 – 1970) will be on display. Visitors to the exhibition will also have the chance to receive The Sound of Moog, a 45-inch vinyl re-pressing, demonstrating the sounds of the Moog modular. Robert Moog received many awards before passing away in 2005, including a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award and a plaque on the Rock Walk Hall of Fame.
