Asha Bromfield, the young and beautiful singer/songwriter from Toronto, tells us why “It’s Not Personal” with her new project. The 19-year-old takes her own experiences of love and heartache and transforms them into a series of songs and visuals. “It’s Not Personal” takes a great first step with the video of “December 15”, directed by Ashley Iris Gill (an Urbanology Magazine team member).
The singer takes out her anger and writes, “It’s not personal,” on Polaroid prints of the couple in their times of love and tosses them off the balcony, tears pages from books and scatters them on the floor along with cereal and chips.
Her look almost resembles Aaliyah’s at the end of the video, when she switches it up and spills out her pain in words. A short spoken-poetic message plays as Asha leaves her ex-lover’s apartment, while he enters with his new love interest.
Many who’ve experience any form of heartache can surely agree with the words: “It’s hard to move on when your ghosts is laying up in my bed.”
