This Halloween, north London grime veteran Skepta released two new songs. One called “No Security” (Halloween Sound) and the other called “Worst,” feat. south London emcees, Section Boyz.
“No Security,” starts with an eerie bell loop which gives way to the song’s hook, which Skepta raps out like a ghost story — his voice low and slow. Skepta raises his voice at the beginning of his first verse, bringing with it a surplus of energy and an infectiously pounding bassline reminiscent of his “It Ain’t Safe,” a song he released two Halloweens ago.
“Worst,” is gritty and brazen — an anthem for the bold. Those traits are mirrored in the music video that accompanies it. Directed by Skepta and Double, the video mimics the plot of the 2013 thriller, The Purge, and showcases Skepta and Section Boyz roaming around London, smoking blunts, breaking into buses and walking subway tracks.
Although the video may be a little underwhelming, both songs amply make up for it both in lyricism and production.
