From colour to edge day 3 of World Master Card Fashion Week showed what fashion is really all about – having fun. Whether it was the campsite of TRIARCHY or the Swiss Alps from Mackage, role-playing and fusing fashion with music was a common theme amongst designers on the third night.
Taking its place as the second show of the day, TRIARCHY brought attendees back to camp as they not only opened the show with a roll call, but also transformed the runway into a woody getaway with the fall/winter collection. The collection featured an assortment of denim ranging from shirts to trousers, with unique patchwork on either the calves of the pant leg or chest of a shirt.
Later, Australian-born Hayley Elsaesser turned the runway into her playground. As always the Aussie designer brought vibrant colour to the runway with her luxury street wear line by mixing prints and presenting timeless, edgy pieces. Fittingly with each piece showcased, models walked out to the sounds of innovative artists like Missy Elliot and M.I.A.
Bringing the day to a close was Montreal-based line Mackage. Known for its timeless winter pieces, the luxury leather brand took attendees to the Swiss Alps with mountain fixtures strategically placed at the start of the runway demonstrating the collection’s adaptability to the cold weather. Puffer coats, chunky scarves – the list goes on. Mackage stopped at nothing to show that sexiness can be attained always, even during the colder weather seasons. Putting a mature spin on a staple winter must-have, the Montreal native brand introduced its take on a sexy snowsuit that is both flattering and warm.
“The harsh winters that we’re getting, and the idea to make a girl feel sexy and not be cold,” explains co-creative director of Mackage, Eran Elfassy, of the collection’s inspiration.
Outfit of the Day
Without hesitation, Mackage’s burgundy and black hooded leather fringed cape takes is most deserving on day 3 of World MasterCard Fashion Week. Fusing together multiple design elements with the warm colour of burgundy makes it a stellar statement piece. Best Suited For: Commutes around the city on a night out on the town.
