In August 1970, 600,000 screaming fans squeeze in one arena, all for guitar legend Jimi Hendrix. Music lovers will soon be able to relive that experience on Tuesday, June 17.

The first Blu-ray release of Blue Wild Angel: Jimi Hendrix Live at the Isle of Wight documents the guitarist’s playing in front of his largest audience, 18 days before his untimely death.

The captivating film is profoundly inspired by Academy Award winning director Murray Lerner’s unseen footage of Hendrix’s finest concert performance. It will feature in depth interviews with bassist Billy Cox, drummer Mitch Mitchell and others who set the stage for the concert footage that follows. In addition, the film contains rare artifacts and memorabilia, festival posters, and even Hendrix’s own handwritten directions to the festival site.
