Music is powerful, and at a recent show from independent Toronto-based artist, Xolisa, photographer Chantal ‘Rose’ Gregory captured this power. She asked various audience members “how did Xolisa’s performance make you feel” and these are some of the responses she received.

“Whenever I see Xolisa it’s like the beginning of a storm, in terms of the purification and in terms of the energy being high voltage. But at the same time you feel very mellow, relaxed. She comes with hard bars, it’s the perfect polarity of performance that you need when you go see someone you want to get hyped for, but at same time you want to show love and vibe with them.” // Photo © Chantal 'Rose' Gregory & Urbanology Magazine

“I feel like she opened me. There was a particular song she performed about vulnerability and I was tearing up and I was so overwhelmed. I felt like she has awakened me and opened me to a tender part I had been running away from.” // Photo © Chantal 'Rose' Gregory & Urbanology Magazine

“It made me feel reassured and uplifted that someone from that city who I dearly support and consider my friend and sister is really going out there an pursuing her dream. That’s prompting me to pursue mine. And putting love and joy into my life with her music.” // Photo © Chantal 'Rose' Gregory & Urbanology Magazine
