The Scarborough Afro Caribbean Festival brought out a crowd to enjoy the sounds, tastes and wears of rich African and Caribbean culture. Throughout the two day festival people of all ages and backgrounds, from across Toronto’s east end and beyond came out to participate in the free festival. Put on by Heritage Skills Development Centre, the festival united the community with dynamic performances and quality vendors. The sun that has been hiding all summer, decided to come out and blazed down on Scarborough’s Albert Campbell Square, making umbrellas from the 2 Lined Music Hut booth one of the most popular purchases of the day. The highlight of the festival was most definitely the dance competitions, including an extremely exciting limbo contest.
